3. Interval Training Is King
So let's get onto interval training.
Interval training is what we can do effectively - as cardio and weight-bearing exercise
simply do not work in the way we've been led to believe.
Whatever your exercise goals, interval training needs to be part of it. Happily, it is easy
to integrate this into any exercise programme, or to develop a new one for yourself from scratch.
Interval training is advantageous in just about every main respect.
- It is easy to do
- It is flexible - apply the method it to walking, cycling, running, swimming, skipping,
calisthenics, rowing, rebounding (on a mini-trampoline), etc etc.
- It is cheap - it can easily be free
- You don't need a gym
- It is very quick - it only takes from six to 20 minutes a day.
- You lose fat and gain muscle with interval training.
- It increases the size of your heart and lung muscles - this is fantastic for
health
- It reduces your c-reactive protein (CRP). This means you body's natural
anti-inflammatory processes are working better, lowering chances of the 'four big ones' - cancer, heart
disease, diabetes and Alzheimer's.
- It naturally raises your Human Growth Hormone - your body's very important anti-aging
hormone
